Frequently Asked Questions
Why Should I Repair My Transmission?
Common complaints such as: "The car is not worth it; I'll buy a new one!" or "I'll just find another used vehicle" are things we hear often. The truth is that buying a new car has many costs associated with it, and can end up being even more overwhelming than just repairing the vehicle you already have. For example:
- 1. The cost of a new car is, on average, $20,000 Dollars and up. And that doesn't even include the title, tag, and insurance. Insurance on a newer vehicle is much higher than on an older one, and requires full coverage... especially if financed. Financing is itself another expense to be added to the list. By the time the warranties on this newer vehicle run out; it too will need repair. Not to mention the fact of depreciation the minute you drive the car off the lot. New cars depreciate by thousands right away. It makes you wonder if it's worth it!
- 2. What about trading in your vehicle to buy a new or used one? Even if you think your car is worth more money according to the Blue Book; there is no reference for you to check the value of it with a bad transmission. Therefore it is up to the dealer to appraise the value less what the transmission would cost to repair. In other words, you are still paying for the cost of the transmission repair on trade in.
- 3. Regarding used cars, different yet substantial problems arise as well. Predominately people get rid of their cars for two reasons: Either it has engine problems, or problems with the transmission. Sometimes these problems are minor, and sometimes they are major. Who wants someone elses problems? What it means is that you now have yet another used vehicle that may have more problems than what you were already dealing with.
It just makes sense to repair your vehicles these days... especially in today's economy where every dollar matters. More and more people are repairing their vehicles now. Even though initially it appears that the costs are expensive; in the long run it's worth the cost of maintenance and repairs to have a reliable, dependable vehicle.
